Jennifer Litner, MSc, MEd, LMFT, CST
Jennifer Litner has over a decade of experience working, studying and teaching in the field of sexual health, with a specialization in sex therapy, sexuality education and helping people thrive in their intimate relationships.
Ms. Litner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and sexuality educator whose passion is helping couples, individuals and families navigate sexual concerns. Ms. Litner is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a Certified Member of the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), and a member of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR). Ms. Litner earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University where she received clinical training and supervision from senior staff clinicians, integrating systemic theories with current therapy models in Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. Ms. Litner’s clinical interests include sexual functioning and satisfaction, desire discrepancy, anxiety about sex and performance, loss of intimacy, pain during sex and integration of faith and sexuality.
In addition to her clinical practice, Ms. Litner earned a Master’s of education and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in human sexuality studies at Widener University with emphasis in human sexuality education. Ms. Litner is also an adjunct professor at Adler University in the Department of Couple and Family Therapy where she teaches masters and doctoral students. As a sexuality educator, Ms. Litner offers trainings in the Chicagoland area on various sexuality-related topics such as Keeping the Flame Alive in Long Term Relationships, Female Sexual Empowerment, Navigating Healthy Relationships During the Teenage Years, Parenting and Sexuality, and Sex-Positive Practices for Healthcare Professionals. Ms. Litner empowers individuals to make healthy choices about sexuality by providing them with accurate sexual health information.
Before establishing Embrace Sexual Wellness, LLC., Ms. Litner worked as an associate therapist in private practice specializing in the treatment of sexual concerns. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist and sexuality educator, Ms. Litner worked as a Certified Peer Health Educator where she organized and lead programs on Mental Health, Nutrition, Safer Sex, and Stress Management at a university wellness center. In addition to her role as an educator, Ms. Litner was trained as a post-test counselor, administering free HIV testing and family planning counseling to university students on a weekly basis. Ms. Litner also completed an internship in Global Education and Civic Engagement where she educated residents about safer sex practices and prevention of HIV in at-risk communities near Cape Town, South Africa.
